Media Literacy & Countering Misinformation Project
Project #FactCheckNigeria, aka, Media Literacy & Countering Misinformation Project, proposed to educate one thousand (1000) Nigerian youths and one hundred & seventy (170) media professionals (spread across seventeen states) on the ways disinformation and misinformation are spread on social media channels and messaging apps through media literacy trainings and radio programmes, in the States of: Abia, Akwa Ibom, Anambra, Bayelsa, Cross River, Delta, Ebonyi, Edo, Ekiti, Enugu, Imo, Lagos, Ogun, Ondo, Osun, Oyo, and Rivers.
The Project’s secondary aim was to increase awareness of the importance of personal accountability in the dissemination of information to a minimum of 1000 youth and 170 media Professionals (spread across seventeen states) with Android Phones who complete our fact checking training, and have them join the growing mass of committed Nigerian fact checkers.
