Some people leave footprints that time can never erase. Mr. Richard Asiegbu was one of such people.
Richard was more than WABMA’s Founding Registrar. He was one of the builders of our Academy, whose commitment, professionalism, and quiet strength helped shape WABMA from its earliest days. As an Instructor in Broadcast Production, he generously shared his knowledge and inspired countless students to pursue excellence with discipline, passion, and integrity.
Beyond his professional contributions, Richard was known for his warm smile, calm presence, kind heart, and unwavering respect for everyone he encountered. He had a remarkable ability to make people feel welcome and valued, leaving a lasting impression on colleagues, students, and visitors alike.
Even while courageously battling cancer, Richard remained dedicated to his work. He served with grace, resilience, and optimism, encouraging others even through his own challenges. His life was a powerful example of quiet strength, selfless service, and steadfast commitment.
His passing leaves a deep void within our Academy, but it also reminds us to uphold the values he lived by—service, excellence, humility, resilience, and kindness. His legacy lives on in the institution he helped build and in the many lives he touched.
As we honour his life, we give thanks for the privilege of having walked this journey with him. Though we mourn his absence, we celebrate a life that was meaningful, impactful, and beautifully lived.
Richard, your work is done, but your influence remains. Your smile will be missed, your wisdom remembered, and your legacy cherished.
